Place of birth is unknown. May have been born in Vermont, imigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1850 with parents, and married Harriet Hart that same year. He with his immediate family, Harriet and children imigrated to the U.S. in 1865 to Lapeer, Michigan and then to Bridgehampton Township, Sanillac County, Michigan.
